Engineer Ammar Rahim Abdullah Al-Saadi, Chairman of the Iraqi Cement Manufacturers Association, held a video conference on April 7, 2025, with representatives from the German company KHD, one of the world's leading companies specializing in the cement industry. The meeting focused on the use of expert systems, artificial intelligence, and simulation systems in the cement industry.

Representatives from KHD provided a detailed explanation of the latest equipment used in the cement industry, which utilizes expert systems to help improve cement production, reduce maintenance and fuel consumption, and thus lower production costs.

The Simulex simulation systems used in the cement industry were also reviewed, as they train technical and engineering personnel working in various specialties in the cement industry. The importance of these programs was also highlighted in terms of providing appropriate training and graduating fully qualified personnel to engage in cement production processes at a lower cost and in a safer environment compared to traditional on-site training methods. Several technical questions were directed by the Association's President and Technical Advisor, Dr. Maher Faiq, to clarify the potential benefits of these devices and programs in the cement industry in Iraq. The Association's esteemed President spoke about the Association's vision of using simulation programs to train university students in general, and chemical engineering students at the University of Technology in particular, given the Association's joint cooperation agreement with the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology. This cooperation aims to prepare these students to work as engineers in cement plants as part of the Association's plans to serve the community and our students in Iraqi universities. The attendees expressed their support for the idea and developed practical plans for its implementation.
